Juvederm® – Facial Rejuvenation

Introduction

Wrinkles and loss of skin volume are a natural part of aging.  Factors such as heredity, sun exposure, and lifestyle can accelerate the process.  Fortunately, Juvederm® is a nonsurgical treatment to plump fine to deep wrinkles, creating a fuller more youthful appearance.  Juvederm is an injectable gel filler that is safe, effective, and lasts up to one year depending upon the areas treated.  It is a quick in-office procedure that produces immediate beautiful results. The results are so natural looking that Juvederm has become a popular treatment with men as well as women.

Juvederm is made of hyaluronic acid, a complex sugar substance, that is found naturally within the body.  Because it is highly compatible with the body, no testing is suggested prior to your treatment.  Juvederm can be used for all skin types and tones.

Juvederm’s different formulas are designed to treat specific problems.  For example, the lightest solution is perfect for softening slight or superficial wrinkles.  Juvederm’s moderate formulization is perfect for treating average wrinkles and folds in the forehead, brow, or smile. It is also used to create plump fuller lips.  Juvederm’s densest gel formula is ideal for plumping deep wrinkles and creating more volume in the cheeks or lips.  At your initial consultation, your doctor will examine your skin and recommend which treatment is the most appropriate for you.

Treatment

Juvederm is administered in a short in-office procedure.  You will receive a local anesthetic to prior to your treatment.  The gel is carefully injected into the wrinkle or fold we are trying to fill or soften.  You may receive more than one injection, depending on the area being treated. 

Juvederm is associated with less pain and swelling than other types of injectable fillers.  The results are immediate. Juvederm lasts for six months or longer, and you may repeat treatments to maintain your rejuvenated new look.

Radiesse® – Facial Rejuvenation 

Introduction

Radiesse® is a skin filler treatment used to rapidly correct facial lines and wrinkles, particularly nasolabial folds, lines that run from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth.  Radiesse® works below the skin’s surface to create new scaffolding to support your skin and make it appear fuller.  Not only does it add volume to your skin, but Radiesse® also stimulates your skin to produce new collagen.  Unlike other skin filler treatments, the youthful appearance that you gain from Radiesse® is long lasting—usually over a year.

Radiesse® is an injected gel.  It is injected with a very fine needle that does not leave a scar or other traces on the skin.  Radiesse® contains special calcium-based spheres that are suspended in a natural gel.  This special formula works beneath your skin.  It creates new scaffolding for your skin, adding volume to your skin and making it appear more youthful.  Radiesse® stimulates your skin to produce new collagen and rebuild your skin’s foundation.  The product is safe and approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration).

Radiesse® is especially formulated for lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth.  Radiesse® produces a fresh natural rested appearance.  Radiesse® is not permanent, but it does last longer than other types of skin filler treatments.  Your body safely and gradually absorbs the calcium-based microspheres.

Treatment

During a consultation before your treatment, your doctor will examine your skin and listen to your concerns.  You should tell your doctor about your desired outcome.  Because there is no skin testing required, you may receive your treatment on the same day in your doctor’s office.  However, people that take aspirin or vitamins may want to discontinue them for one week before the procedure, as they may contribute to bruising.

Treatment with Radiesse® is safe, simple, and fast—it can be performed over your lunch hour.  First, your skin will be numbed with a local anesthetic.  Intraoral dental block or local anesthesia may be used. Next, the Radiesse® dermal filler is injected beneath your skin with a very fine needle.  You will see the results of Radiesse® immediately.  You may experience some minor swelling or tenderness for a few days, or in some cases up to two weeks.

Radiesse® is a long-term skin enhancement method.  Results may last from about 12-18 months.  You may have follow-up visits and touch-ups if necessary.

Restylane® – Facial Rejuvenation 

Introduction

Restylane® is a skin filler that is used to rejuvenate and enhance the appearance of aging facial skin.  Restylane restores natural volume to your skin—correcting fine lines, creating fuller lips, and enhancing the shape of your cheeks or chin or even the hollows below your eyes.  Restylane treatments are quick, and the results will last 4-10 months depending upon the areas treated and the amount of motion in the area.  Restylane is an immediate and safe way to attain a more youthful-looking facial appearance.

Restylane is an injected gel.  Restylane is injected with a very fine needle that does not leave a scar or other traces on the face.  The gel is made from a safe, natural substance, hyaluronic acid.  Restylane is approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). 

Restylane is available in different formulas especially suited for fine lines, lips, or cheek or chin augmentation. Restylane may be used in combination with other products, such as Perlane® to achieve the desired results.  The gel lifts the skin and creates a smooth full appearance.  The affects of Restylane are long lasting, but temporary.  Your body will gradually absorb the gel and safely eliminate it from your body.  Touch-up treatments are recommended to refine and maintain your new youthful look.  

Treatment

You will have a consultation with your doctor prior to your treatment.  Your doctor will examine your skin and listen to your concerns.  You should tell your doctor about expectations.  Together, you will formulate a treatment plan just for you.

You can receive Restylane injections in your doctor’s office.  There is no need to wait for a skin test.  The treatment is quick and easy.  Most treatments last less than 30 minutes.
Restylane injections use a very fine needle and may cause minimal discomfort.  Most areas of the face can be treated without numbing the face first.  However, if you prefer to receive a local anesthetic or topical cream to numb the area prior to treatment, this may be applied before your treatment. You can simply mention it to your doctor.

You can see the beautiful results of Restylane immediately.  The length of time that Restylane lasts is very individualized.  Treatment for fine lines and wrinkles can be effective for a year or longer.  Regular follow-up appointments and touch-ups at six months or more may be recommended.  Lip injections may last up to six months, and touch-ups may be recommended two to four weeks after the initial treatment for fine adjustments.  Chin and cheek augmentation is long-lasting, and touch-ups may be recommended at six months to a year following treatment.

One advantage of Restylane is that the affects are long lasting, but not permanent. As you will continue to age, something permanent may take on an undesirable appearance (ie. lumps or bumps).  You can re-evaluate your needs to combine treatments to achieve the affect you want.  A follow-up appointment or touch-up can be arranged at anytime following your initial treatment.
